In Advance of The 25th Anniversary of The Attacks on 9/11, a New Documentary Uncovers The Forgotten Science of Sweat Detox: The Protocol That Helped 9/11 Survivors Heal When Nothing Else Worked

Featuring Leading Voices in Detoxification Science, including Infrared Sauna Pioneer Dr. Raleigh Duncan, the Film Reveals How Sauna Therapy Could Transform Modern Healthcare

BERKELEY, CA., and NEW YORK, NY – August 27, 2026 – A groundbreaking new documentary is set to reveal one of the most powerful yet overlooked healing methodologies in modern medicine: a therapeutic protocol that helped 9/11 survivors recover from catastrophic toxic exposure when conventional treatments failed.

More members of the New York City Fire Department have now died from illnesses linked to 9/11 than were killed on the day of the attack itself. According to the FDNY Foundation, more than 400 FDNY members have died from World Trade Center-related illnesses as of September 2025, surpassing the 343 FDNY members lost on September 11, 2001. This is a truly sobering reminder that the health toll of that day is still being counted a quarter-century later, and the backdrop against which “SWEAT: The Untold 9/11 Story” is making its case.

“SWEAT: The Untold 9/11 Story,” produced by Justin Glaser, author of the acclaimed book Sweat: Uncovering Your Body’s Hidden Superpower, investigates the comprehensive niacin-sauna detoxification protocol and its remarkable success in treating those exposed to the toxic aftermath of September 11, 2001.

Through intimate interviews with 9/11 survivors, leading toxicologists, medical doctors, and pioneering researchers, this compelling documentary explores:

  • The hidden crisis of environmental toxicity and its profound impact on neurological and physical health
  • Why sweat-induced detoxification represents a critical missing component in contemporary wellness approaches
  • The rigorous science validating sauna therapy now being embraced by medical innovators, performance scientists, and longevity experts worldwide

A Paradigm Shift for Preventative Medicine

“The implications of this protocol extend far beyond helping 9/11 responders—it represents a fundamental shift in how we might approach chronic illness, environmental medicine, and mental health treatment,” explains Dr. Devaki Lindsey Berkson, a prominent environmental medicine specialist featured in the film. “We’re witnessing the revitalization of an evidence-based approach that challenges our current healthcare paradigm.”

Backed by Industry Leaders in Wellness Technology
Clearlight® Infrared Saunas and Wellness Solutions (“Clearlight®”), the global industry leader in infrared saunas and a pioneer in innovative health and wellness solutions, has joined as the documentary’s primary sponsor, furthering its mission to advance evidence-based wellness solutions.

Ongoing Support for First Responders

Clearlight is proud to support first responders by offering wellness resources, retrofitting fire stations, and conducting scientific research for their long-term wellness. UCSF is currently using the Clearlight Curve® Far Infrared Sauna Dome to study the effects of infrared heating on detoxifying endocrine-disrupting chemicals, heavy metals, and mycotoxins. Clearlight’s dedicated resource page is available at infraredsauna.com/commercial/infrared-saunas-firefighters. The resource offers educational tools, discounts, and wellness initiatives for first responders, including a free ebook on infrared sauna therapy: [PDF Ebook: Clearlight Infrared Saunas for Fire Fighters: Using Infrared Saunas to Safeguard Your Health & Detoxification].

“At Clearlight, we’ve spent nearly 30 years studying how the body heals itself when you give it the right environment, which includes heat, sweat, and time,” said Dr. Raleigh Duncan, founder of Clearlight and pioneer in infrared sauna technology, who appears in the documentary alongside the film’s featured toxicologists and researchers. “What happened with the 9/11 responders wasn’t a miracle; it was physiology: sustained infrared heat mobilizes toxins that get locked away in fat tissue and lets our bodies do what they’re built to do. This documentary puts on screen what we’ve believed at Clearlight since day one, and that is that sweat isn’t just detox; it’s one of the most powerful healing tools our bodies have.”

Global Infrared Sauna Leader Donates Wellness Package including Infrared Sauna and Two HALO ONE® Salt Therapy Devices after Local Spa’s Act of Gratitude

Carmel, IN — December 4, 2025 — What began as a routine emergency response has transformed into a sweeping show of support for first responders, thanks to a wellness donation from Clearlight®, the global pioneer and industry leader in infrared sauna technology, red light therapy, and wellness solutions for more than 28 years

Earlier this month, the Carmel Fire Department (CFD) responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at Carmel Salt Caves & Spa after staff inadvertently dislodged a pipe connected to a gas heater. Firefighters quickly secured the building and ensured everyone’s safety, which is a reminder of the essential role carbon monoxide detectors play in any home or business using gas appliances.

While on site, firefighters mentioned a long-standing wish: access to an infrared sauna to support muscle recovery, respiratory health, and stress reduction, all of which are benefits increasingly recognized as essential for first responders.

In response, Carmel Salt Caves & Spa immediately donated their Clearlight Infrared Sauna to the Department.

But the story didn’t end there.

When Clearlight learned of the incident and the spa’s donation, the company took swift action to expand the gift beyond anyone’s expectations.

Clearlight is donating a second Clearlight Infrared Sauna to the Carmel Fire Department along with two HALO ONE® Salt Therapy devices, creating a wellness suite to further support the Carmel fire fighters’ respiratory health, muscle recovery, stress relief, and resilience.

“When we learned what happened, we knew immediately that we wanted to be part of giving back,” said Dr. Raleigh Duncan, Founder of Clearlight. “These firefighters stepped in without any hesitation. Offering them more wellness tools is our way of saying thank you for all you do in the community. Their work is physically and mentally demanding, and we’re committed to supporting their long-term health in every meaningful way we can.”

The additional Clearlight Infrared sauna and HALO ONE devices will broaden CFD’s access to therapeutic tools shown to support:

  • Improved circulation and muscle recovery
  • Reduced physiological stress load
  • Respiratory health through dry salt aerosol therapy
  • Detoxification support, including removal of heavy metals and environmental toxins

Clearlight has long supported firefighter wellness through a number of initiatives for individual firefighters, crews, as well as conducting scientific research for their long term wellness. UCSF is currently using the Clearlight Curve® Far Infrared Sauna Dome to study detoxification of endocrine-disrupting chemicals, heavy metals, and mycotoxins. Clearlight also offers the Clearlight’s First Responder ID.ME program.

Carmel Salt Caves & Spa, known locally for supporting EMS professionals with free and discounted services, expressed deep gratitude for Clearlight’s amplified gift.

“We were honored to give our infrared sauna to the Carmel Fire Department,” said Dr. Skye Winslow, owner of Carmel Salt Caves & Spa. “Clearlight’s generosity has taken this gesture to a whole new level. Their donation will provide powerful, long-term benefits for the health and recovery of our first responders.”

As part of the announcement, Carmel Salt Caves & Spa encourages all residents to inspect their carbon monoxide detectors and ensure they are properly installed — a simple safety step that prevented a more serious incident.
